Couple of years ago I have visited one of my favorite Russian cities – Nizhny Novgorod. The city I lived in for quite a while some time ago. I love its red stone Kremlin, beautiful old streets and time-worn courtyards.

Today I had an urge to draw something Russian. What should it be? – Of course, Nizhny Novgorod and its courtyards. And yes, I had to replace an old car to an Irish Setter (dogs are my passion, you know!). Perhaps, I should do a series of courtyard drawings from cities I have been to. The series of “Courtyards”.

Irish Setter In A Courtyard Of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia – Dimitrie Ross. Charcoal, pastel on kraft paper, 20cmX30cm [8.3″X11.7″]
This is the picture I took back then. Not sure that this courtyard remained the same since then, but something tells me that not much change happened and if I’d go to Nizhny Novgorod today I’ll see the same courtyard. By the way, I found this expressive courtyard right in the center of the city.
