The “Greek Mythology Series” of exaggerated allegories. Crocus was a companion of Hermes. When Hermes was throwing a discus, he accidentally hit Crocus who stood up very unexpectedly. Where Crocus’ blood dripped on the ground, the crocus (saffron) flowers sprouted.
